Baseball runs three generations deep in the Evans family. Coach Jeff's grandfather played professionally in Kansas City and Baltimore, and his father pitched briefly in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Jeff grew up inside that lineage — learning the game the way it was handed down, with patience, detail, and accountability — before carving out a playing career of his own all over the southeastern part of the country.

That career began with four years of varsity ball at Southfield-Lathrup High School in Michigan, where a standout showing at Michigan State University's baseball camp in the summer of 2014 earned him his first collegiate offer. From there he headed south: three seasons of NCAA Division II baseball at Claflin University in South Carolina — winning a conference championship as a sophomore — a stint helping launch the inaugural team at the University of Michigan–Dearborn, and a final scholarship at Stillman College in Alabama, where he earned his degree. A summer of collegiate ball with the Charlotte Crushers in North Carolina followed, and after graduation the Crushers organization extended his first offer to play professional baseball. An elite infielder throughout, he anchored shortstop while also handling second and third base.

As founder and head coach of Will of God Baseball, his mission goes beyond the cage. He works directly with colleges and professional organizations to put dedicated players in front of the people who can advance their careers — and is building travel teams to give committed athletes the stage to be seen. He teaches from lived experience, because he knows firsthand exactly what the road to the next level demands.
